The Daughters of St. Anna, with their present homes in all continents, including in the current offering in February, as is the custom, a mini project for their missionary activities. The congregation, founded in the Blessed Rosa Gattorno Piacenza and in our cities, as well as the "parent", with the provincial office responsible for Italy, are currently engaged in building a "house" in Koithoorkonam , a village Trivandum District (Kerala, India), a city that has about 745,000 inhabitants.
The village is very poor, with most of the inhabitants live on fishing and agriculture. It coexists with many diseases, not to address them with appropriate care, leading to death, leaving many orphans. It adds AIDS with its tragic consequences: broken families is the death that comes to those who are infected, for fear of the disease, the situation for orphans even if positive, are feared and regarded as a source of infection.
For those of HIV positive there are already centers of crop-specific, but are at risk for many other girls who are orphans but they are not "positive." They I'm terribly feared and therefore abandoned. The surroundings of this village suffers from this terrible reality to which we would like to respond.
The Daughters of St. Anne are in Trivandum since 1995 devoted to the promotion of human aid to families, education through kindergarten, an elementary school, youth groups, hospitals and health care in a center for AIDS patients and TB and by pastoral activities.
To address these and other social problems of this community, the Daughters of St. Anne are involved in the construction of a new "welcome home" for which they are also asking the help of Piacenza.
